Many people not even know what a normal bowel movement is. It's just because we do not think about it ever. But it is important to know about the normal bowel movement color and about the changes that may occur in this regard. Such information would help you know your bowel movement properly and help you stay healthy. The normal bowel movement color is brown and the frequency is thrice a day to thrice every week. The frequency may vary person to person.

But if you have it less than 3 times a week, you may have constipation problem whereas more than 3 times a day indicates diarrhea. As far as the size and shape are concerned the normal stool is soft & easy to pass. The size & shape is similar to that of a sausage.

Changes in the stool color indicate the bowel disorders. Here are some points related to the bowel movement color that may help you diagnose the bowel disorder:

· Black: Black stool with a foul smell is caused due to excessive intake of iron supplements or due to internal bleeding. Black or red stools indicate internal bleeding anywhere in the gastrointestinal tract.

· Maroon or Red: It may be because of taking red colored food items. It may also be caused due to hemorrhoids, colon cancer, anal fissures or inflammatory bowel diseases.

· Green: The reason for this may be over consumption of green leafy vegetables and fruits. The other reason is the decreased transit time.

· Pale: Pale stools or clay colored stools is caused by the lack of bile salt and antacids.

· Orange: Orange colored stools are due to some medications. It is also because of the food items that have high beta carotene; these include pumpkin, apricots, water-squash, sweet potatoes, mangoes & carrots.

Persistent change in the bowel movement color can be a serious problem and needs to be investigated by some physician.

Diarrhea is not just another stomach ache. There are many complications that are involved in this condition and the sooner we find the cure for diarrhea, the better off we will be.

Diarrhea is the term used when a person has loose bowel movements. The stools passed during this time are usually soft and watery which is unusual as an average person should pass firm stools.

This condition can be accompanied by painful cramps in the abdomen, uncomfortable bloating and swelling of the abdomen, uncontrollable urge to defecate, chills, and even fever. A large part of the population does not seek treatment for this condition as this usually passes even without medication. However, we should be wary of the pending consequences of untreated condition.

Since we lose a lot of water because of this problem, it is important to drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration. This is the condition where the body does not have sufficient supply of fluid for it to function properly. Not only is fluid lost but also the natural minerals and chemicals produced by our body.

This is a serious condition that has a serious impact on the person affected. If you feel overly thirsting, have dry skin, feeling dizzy and fatigued and urinates less, you might be in danger of dehydration caused by this condition.

Loose bowel movements can be caused by the invasion of bacteria, parasites and viruses on our digestive system. If this is the case, it is best to seek medical advice to get rid of these parasites before it endangers your body further. This can also be caused by lactose intolerance, medicines or an effect of an underlying disease such as Crohn's disease.

People of various ages can have this condition. While adults can tolerate it more, babies cannot and they need immediate treatment so that their body will not suffer from the loss of fluid and important salt-chemicals.

The cure for diarrhea is extensive. There are many products out there processed to specifically help replace the lost salts and fluid of the body. Some brand names are Pedialyte, ceralyte and infalyte.

Tablets or capsules can also be purchased even without the prescription of the physician. These are sold in drugstores to help relieve the symptoms of this condition.

It would also be helpful if the person affected eats fruits and vegetables high in fiber. The fiber can bind the waste in the intestines and can replace the vitamins and minerals lost.

There are also natural herbal remedies that are just as effective as over-the-counter medications.

Agrimony

This herb is safe for children to use and should be given in tea form at the initial sign of the symptoms of this condition.

Cayenne

This is especially helpful in reducing the formation of loose stools.

Psyllium seed

This is helpful in reducing the liquid from the stool

Fenugreek

This is great in coating the lining of the intestines to provide immediate relief from the symptoms.

One natural product that has been proven to be safe and effective is a product called DigestAssist.

This product provides comfort to our digestive system. It sustains the natural level of acidity in our stomach to prevent indigestion and to prevent bacteria and other parasitic creatures to flourish in our stomach.

This product only contains herbal ingredients such as fennel, ginger, peppermint, and stomach bush that can treat digestive ailments. The use of these remedies dates back to old times and the use of these have been carried until recent years because of their efficacy.

The cure for diarrhea can also be found with naturally manufactured remedies. These are even preferred by many because it does not contain any harsh chemicals. Try these remedies and prevent any complications that might develop because of this condition.

Gastro Parvo is a serious illness for all dogs but, young puppies and older dogs are often hit hard, and when they are the disease can be deadly unless you seek immediate treatment for your pet. Unfortunately for many puppies and older dogs by the time most owners realize that their dog is seriously ill, it may already be too late to save them. Knowing the signs to look for in your dog may well save his life and help prevent the spread of this illness to other dogs as well.

Lethargy

While it is natural for your dog to want to just lie around after a long exercise or play session, most dogs quickly recover after a nap. If your dog is lopping around for an unnaturally long period of time and doesn't seem to want to move even when encouraged or moves slow you might want to make an immediate appointment with a vet. While being lethargic may be a sign of a less serious illness or no illness at all; it is also one of the first signs of parvo and the cost of the vet may well be worth it even if turns out to be nothing at all.

Loss of Appetite

Like lethargy, loss of appetite in your dog may be caused by many things including too many snacks. However, if his loss of appetite is unexpected and accompanied by being lethargic then there is probably something that is making him feel ill even if the cause is not parvo. Again seeking vet care is the best thing to do in order to find out exactly what is wrong and to get prompt treatment.

Fever

Almost every dog who contacts parvo will have some level of fever. Keep in mind however, that some dogs will carry and pass this disease without ever showing any real symptoms. These are usually adult dogs that have been in good health and may have received a parvo vaccine.

Diarrhea and Vomiting

Once the Parvo virus really takes hold, your dog may vomit and/or have diarrhea. In cases of parvo induced diarrhea your dogs stool will not only be liquid but may be almost black in color and extremely foul smelling. In most cases once a young puppy or older dog begins having diarrhea or vomiting he will quickly dehydrate and it is this dehydration that can kill a dog very quickly. If your dog, especially a puppy shows signs of vomiting or diarrhea then call your vet immediately. Get a stool sample and try to feed your dog as much fluid as possible. Giving him water laced with Gatorade will help him maintain his electrolyte levels until he can be treated.

Once diarrhea and vomiting have set in, treatment for parvo may include the use of an IV to replace fluids and perhaps even an extended stay at the Vet clinic which will be far more costly than an early visit to your vet, even if the visit proves to be a false alarm. While vaccinating your puppy at the appropriate times can help lessen the effects of this virus it does not mean that your dog still cannot catch it. So take care and be alert in order to protect your beloved pet's health.

There are two basic types of irritable bowel syndrome. Symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea include abdominal pain or discomfort, bloating and frequent, loose or watery stools. To define frequent, you must look at what is normal for the individual. The number of bowel movements that a person has varies greatly. Some people have three movements per day, while others may have only three per week. A change in the frequency of bowel movements that is accompanied by abdominal pain often leads physicians to diagnose irritable bowel syndrome.

Symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome with constipation also include abdominal pain, discomfort and/or bloating, but the stools are hard or difficult to pass and movements are less frequent than what is normal for the individual. In a few cases, people with irritable bowel syndrome symptoms experience constipation at times and diarrhea at other times. Abdominal pain can be a symptom of a number of other medical conditions and should be evaluated by a physician. If a bowel movement relieves the pain, then the physician may determine that the abdominal pain is associated with symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome.

The exact causes of irritable bowel syndrome symptoms are unknown, but patients can often determine what triggers the symptoms by keeping a foods and symptoms journal; noting what foods or beverages were consumed before the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome began. Products containing caffeine, alcohol and carbonated beverages may trigger symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, though these products do not cause the condition. Food sensitivities often trigger symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. Some people are sensitive to wheat products; others are sensitive to milk products. And still others find that fructose, a simple sugar found in fruit and fruit juices triggers symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. This is why a food and symptoms diary is helpful. By avoiding certain foods, some people are able to keep the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome under control.

Symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome are more likely to show up in people between the ages of 13 and 40, than in those over 50. Women are more likely to have symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome than are men. This may indicate that irritable bowel syndrome symptoms are related to monthly changes in hormonal levels, but this is not certain. It seems that many people who suffer from symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome also are suffering from stress or other emotional difficulties and because of this stress management or behavior therapies are sometimes recommended. In addition, a recent study showed that hypnotic therapy was effective in controlling irritable bowel syndrome symptoms.

The causes and triggers of irritable bowel syndrome symptoms vary greatly among individuals. Treatment plans vary as well. Some prescription medications and herbal remedies may be helpful over the short term, but dietary and lifestyle changes are typically necessary to keep the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome under control for extended periods of time.

Many household items can be poisonous to dogs. The trend is on the rise with no apparent reason.

  1. Human medications: Common human drugs such as painkillers, cold medications, antidepressants and dietary supplements are poisonous to dogs. Pets snatch pill vials from easily accessible counters or medication accidentally dropped on the floor. Make sure you keep all medication out of reach.

  2. Insecticides: Pet poisonings pertaining to products used to kill fleas, ticks and other insects are up. A key finding is the usage of products that eliminate fleas, ticks and other pesky bugs, is not reading and following label instructions exactly. Another mistake is applying the wrong topical treatment to the wrong species. It is best to talk to your vet before embarking on any flea program.

  3. Veterinary medications: Misapplication by earnest pet owners involving animal-related preparations such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, heart worm preventatives, de-wormers, antibiotics, vaccines and nutritional supplements can be poisonous to dogs.

  4. Plants: Varieties such as azalea, rhododendron, sago palm, lilies, kalanchoe and schefflera found in homes are poisonous to dogs. What can you do? Learn about the plants in your yard and neighbourhood that are dangerous and be sure your dog does not have access to them. Ideally, remove all toxic plants on your own property including poisonous houseplants. Check out the plant before you purchasing. It is also a good idea to discourage dogs from nibbling on any variety of plant, as even non-toxic plants can lead to minor stomach upsets.

  5. Rodenticides: Rat and mouse poisons can cause bleeding, seizures or kidney damage.

  6. Household cleaners: Lock up your cleaning agents such as bleaches, detergents and disinfectants. When inhaled by our furry friends, it can cause serious gastrointestinal distress and irritation to the respiratory tract.

  7. Food: Chocolate is poisonous to dogs. The toxic compound in chocolate is theobromine, a substance found in cacao beans. The signs of toxicity of chocolate usually include excitement, agitation or nervousness, muscle tremors, vomiting, increase thirst and diarrhea. Some severe cases the dog may have muscle spasms, feel heat and enter into coma. A few were fatal. Dark chocolate has greater potential for poisoning, including baking chocolate. Forget white chocolate, even though it has less theobromine. The bottom line is to exclude chocolate from your recipe. Raisins and grapes can result in hyperactivity, vomiting, diarrhoea and kidney failure. Macadamia nuts can cause weakness, depression, vomiting and tremors in some dogs. Xylitol commonly found in human products, such as, toothpaste, chewing gum; baked goods can cause insulin release resulting in lower blood sugar and potential liver failure. The symptoms are lethargy and loss of coordination. Different dogs react differently, best is to avoidance.

  8. Chemical hazards: Harmful items such as volatile petroleum-based products, alcohols, acids and gases which are found in ethylene glycol antifreeze, paint thinner, drain cleaners and pool/spa chemicals. The side effects are gastrointestinal upset, depression, respiratory difficulties and chemical burns.

  9. Physical hazards: Items in this group include objects that could pose a choking hazard, risk for intestinal obstruction, or other physical injury

  10. Home improvement products: Lead is especially injurious. Pets are exposed to it through many sources, including consumer products, paint chips, linoleum, and lead dust produced when surfaces in older homes are scraped or sanded.

Before your dog needs help due to ingestion on any household items poisonous to dogs, decide which poison control helpline you want to use. Post the number where you can easily find it in an emergency.

Patients with diabetes have more complications from nerve damage, called neuropathy due to diabetes. High blood sugar can damage the nerve fibers of the entire body, but the lower limbs and feet are often the most vulnerable.

Depending on how the nerve injury, but symptoms can vary from pain, loss of sensation in the lower to the symptoms of the digestive system, urinary tract, blood vessels and heart. Some patients have mild symptoms but many patients also have terrible pain, incapacity and even death

Neurological disease due to diabetes is the most serious complications of diabetes. You can prevent or slow the progression of neurological disease due to diabetes by controlling blood sugar closely and have a healthy lifestyle.

Symptoms

Neurological disease due to diabetes has four main types. Patients may have a form or a symptom of many types at once. Most of the symptoms manifest slowly as the patient did not notice until a serious injury. Some patients have symptoms even before diabetes is diagnosed.

Symptoms of neurological disease due to diabetes varies depending on what type and how nerve injury:

Peripheral neuropathy

Peripheral neuropathy is the most common neurological disease due to diabetes. It hurt the nerves in the feet, lower limbs, arms and hands, but the lower limbs and feet are usually affected most. These symptoms include:

* Numbness or decreased sensation of pain, hot and cold temperatures, especially in the feet.

* Stinging sensation, such as tingling, burning starts in your toes and gradually spread to the feet.

Pain like a knife stabbing, such as electric shocks or knives, often up at night.

* Increased sensitivity to touch, feel - a few patients, even up blanket is painful.

* Loss of balance and coordination

* Muscle weakness and difficulty walking

* Many leg problems are severe, such as ulcers, infection, deformity and painful joints.

Autonomic neuropathy

Autonomic nervous system controls the operation of the agency: heart, bladder, lung, stomach, digestive, reproductive organs and eye. Diabetes can damage the nerve fibers in any organ, causing:

* Bladder problems: recurrent urinary tract infection often does not control or primary (elementary patients not resist)

* Digestive problems: as the first breath, heartburn and abdominal pain

* Constipation, diarrhea, uncontrollable or a combination of constipation and diarrhea

* Eat slowly emptied indigestion caused by gastric (stomach paralysis), leading to nausea, vomiting or loss of appetite.

* Erectile dysfunction affects over 50% of men with diabetes> 60 years old.

* Vaginal dryness and difficulty in sexual activity in women.

* Increased or decreased sweating

* The inability to regulate blood pressure and heart rate, leading to postural hypotension when the patient changes posture to sit or sugar.

* Issues related to regulating body temperature.

* Change the way the eyes adjust from light to dark.

Neurological disease usually occurs automatically on diabetes patients control blood sugar for many years is not good.

Also known as femoral neuropathy or muscle atrophy caused by diabetes. Neurological origin often painful in the hip, thigh, buttocks, usually starting on one side, eventually leading to muscle weakness and muscle atrophy patients difficult to change positions from sitting to standing. Many patients with severe weight loss. Some patients with pain in his back. Nerve root disease usually occurs in elderly patients or patients with type 2 diabetes.

Focal neuropathy

Focal neuropathy usually appear suddenly often related to a nerve independent. Common in elderly patients. Neurological disease that can cause localized pain and may disappear after a few weeks or few thang.Nhung symptoms include:

* Difficulty focusing eyes, double vision or pain behind the eyes.

*paralyze the side face

* Pain in the lower leg or foot.

Sometimes neurological disease caused by localized pinched nerve fibers. Carpal tunnel syndrome is the most common form of focal neuropathy in patients with diabetes.

Symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome:

* Numbness, swelling, or stinging in the fingers while driving or while holding the newspaper.

* Pain spreading from the wrist up the arm, shoulder or spread to the palms, fingers.

* Feeling of weakness in the hand and tend to drop objects.

Cause

A complex system of nerves running throughout the body, connecting the brain to the muscles, skin and other organs. Through the nerves, the brain will feel the pain and temperature, control and operation of automated tasks such as digestion.

High blood sugar can damage the nerve fibers, but the exact reason is not known how clearly rang.Co be due to a combination of many factors, including nerve and blood vessels. High blood sugar increases the ability of neural signals pure decline. High blood sugar affect the capillaries that supply blood and nutrients to the nerve fibers.

Other factors

Other factors may contribute to neurological disease caused by diabetes, including:

* Glycate protein. Glycate process of protein occurs when glucose interacts with proteins, modifying proteins. This process is thought to be related to complications of diabetes, including neuropathy due to diabetes.

* Autoimmune inflammatory response of nerve fibers. When the immune system mistakenly attacks the body's organs in the body.

* Factor gene: make patients vulnerable nerve fibers.

* Alcohol and tobacco, both nerve damage and blood vessels, increasing the risk of infection.

Risk Factors

Any diabetic patient can no neurological complications, but the following factors increase the likelihood that injured nerve fibers.

* Poor blood sugar control. This is the biggest risk factors for all diabetes complications, including neurological complications. Keeping blood sugar stable is the best way to protect the nerves and blood vessels.

* Time has diabetes. The risk of neuropathy due to diabetes increased over time with diabetes, especially if blood sugar is not well controlled. Neuropathy can automatically affect the digestive system, bladder and sexual function, which occurs mainly in patients with diabetes are not good blood sugar control or diabetes over 20 years. The rate of peripheral nerve disease occurs in most patients with diabetes> 25 years.

* Age. Older patients more at risk from diabetes nerve.

* Gender. Men prone to neurological disease due to diabetes than women.

* Increased cholesterol. Increased bad cholesterol damage the small blood vessels feeding the nerves.

* Cigarette smoking. Smoking is the arteries harden and narrow and reduces blood flow to the legs. Making slow healing wounds and hurting peripheral neuropathy.

Diagnostic tests

Neurological disease due to diabetes is usually diagnosed based on symptoms, medical history and physical examination. The doctor will examine your muscle tone, bone tendon reflexes, touch sensation, thermal sensation and vibration sense.

Usea soft nylon brush lightly over the foot. If the patient does not feel the nylon on the feet, which is a sign of loss of sensation.

Other tests

In some cases, the following tests may be screaming:

*Assessment of neurotransmitters. This test is used to evaluate the conductive speed of nerve fibers in the limbs, usually used to diagnose carpal tunnel syndrome.

American Diabetes Association recommends that all public patients with diabetic foot should be examined at least once each year. In addition, foot inspection to detect signs of inflammation, cracked skin, calluses, deformed joints each doctor visit

Complications

Neurological disease due to diabetes can cause many serious complications

* Loss of sense of truth. Because of nerve damage causing loss of sensation in the legs, so the patient does not detect the injury, swelling and pain in the leg wound infection can be severe. Very high risk of infection due to decreased blood flow to the legs. Infection can spread to the bone and tissue necrosis. It is difficult to treat, need to be amputated legs or arms.

* Charcot Joints. This occurs when the joints in the legs disfigured by nerve damage

* Primary and primary infection do not control. Neurological damage bladder control patients could not state the end, still urine in the bladder after urinating, when it is so easy to create conditions for germs to develop in the bladder and kidneys, leading to infection urinary tract. Nerve damage also affect the ability to sense when you urinate and control of urination.

* Hypoglycaemia without warning. Normally, when blood sugar dropped too low, below 70 mg / dL, or below 3.0 mmol / L patients will have symptoms such as trembling hands, sweating, heart palpitations... Here are the warning symptoms of patients. Neuropathy can automatically make the patient may not manifest symptoms of hypoglycemia and is not treated promptly, very easy to coma and even death.

* Low blood pressure.. Neurological damage control circulatory system will impact the ability to adjust the body's blood pressure. When that cause low blood pressure when changing positions from sitting to standing, causing symptoms of dizziness or shock. Called postural hypotension.

* Gastrointestinal disorders. Automatic nerve damage control digestive system will cause many digestive problems, including constipation, diarrhea or constipation interspersed diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, bloating or loss of feeling good mouth. A serious complication that is paralyzed stomach, as food from the stomach slowly cause nausea and vomiting.

* Sexual dysfunction. Neuropathy usually automated nerve damage affecting the genitals, causing erectile dysfunction in men and vaginal dryness in women.

* Increased or decreased sweating. When the sweat glands do not function normally, the body will not be able to regulate body temperature. Typically, neurological diseases causing automatic sweat more, especially at night

Drugs and treatment

Treatment of neurological diseases caused by diabetes to focus on:

* Slow progression of disease

* Reduce pain

* Treatment of complications

* Rehabilitation

Slow progression of the disease.

Keep blood sugar constant in the normal limits will help slow the progression of peripheral neuropathy and can reduce symptoms. Target blood glucose:

* Blood sugar before meals: 90 to 130 mg / dL (5 to 7 mmol / L)

* 2 hour postprandial blood glucose

* Hemoglobin A1c

Sugar HbA1c is associated with hemoglobin - substance inside red blood cells carrying oxygen. It reflects the average blood glucose of patients in 2-3 months

To help slow the nerve damage:

* As recommended by your doctor about foot care

* Keep blood pressure within limits

* The healthy diet and reasonable

* Regular physical activity that

* Maintain ideal body weight

* Stop smoking

* Absolute alcohol or stop drinking, if permitted, shall not exceed one per day for women beer or two cans, for men.

Analgesic

Treatment of pain in neurological disease caused by diabetes is very difficult. Many drugs have been used to relieve pain but not effective in all patients and many side effects.

These medications include:

* Anti-epileptic Drugs: Drugs such as gabapentin (Neurontin), pregabalin (Lyrica) and carbamazepine (Tegretol), used to treat epilepsy, but it is also used to treat neuropathic pain. Side effects include drowsiness and dizziness.

* Antidepressants, including amitriptyline, nortriptyline (Pamelor), desipramine (Norpramin) and imipramine (Tofranil), may reduce pain mild to moderate, but also has many side effects. The new antidepressants better pain relief and fewer side effects.

* Lidocaine patch. Patch containing lidocaine local anesthetic and helps relieve pain. Usually no more side effects, sometimes causing redness.

*Capsaicin is a substance extracted from chillies, when applied on the skin, capsaicin cream (ArthriCare,... Zostrix) can reduce pain..

* Other drugs. Painkillers such as codeine or central oxycodone (OxyContin) may be used to relieve pain. But the drugs can cause many adverse effects of long-term treatment.

Other types of treatment

Many non-drug treatments can help relieve pain. Can be combined with drugs to treat:

* Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA). Alpha-lipoic acid is an antioxidant found in food, can help reduce symptoms of peripheral neuropathy.

* Electrical stimulation through the skin: This method uses a small electric current stimulation to reduce pain, but this method is not effective in all patients and all types of pain.

* Acupuncture. National Institutes of Health of the United States have applied acupuncture in the treatment of chronic pain including neuropathic pain.

* Relaxation techniques. Reduce the pressure and pain. Relaxation techniques include deep breathing exercises or looking at pictures, yoga...

Treatment complications

Urinary tract complications. Anti-spasm medication (anticholinergics), changing county... to reduce urination urinary tract symptoms.

Gastrointestinal disorders. When the stomach is paralyzed, the patient should eat several meals a day, each meal should eat less, down fiber and fats in the diet.

* Postural hypotension. Patients with postural hypotension should avoid alcohol, drink plenty of water and stood up from tu.Co many drugs to treat postural hypotension, such as fludrocortisone to increase blood pressure.

* Sexual dysfunction. Sildenafil (Viagra), tadalafil (Cialis) and vardenafil (Levitra) may improve sexual function in men, but these drugs may not be effective and safe for everyone. Women may need substance through vaginal estrogen cream to prevent vaginal dryness.

Prevention

Patients can prevent and delay complications of neurological disease due to diabetes by keeping blood sugar within permissible limits, foot care and lifestyle changes.

Blood sugar control:

Target blood sugar

* Blood sugar before meals: 90 to 130 mg / dL (5 to 7 mmol / L)

* 2 hour postprandial blood glucose

* Hemoglobin A1c

Foot care

To protect your feet to avoid serious complications:

* Check feet every day. If patients do not see the soles of the feet, to use mirrors or inspection by a relative vacuum. Find the area swelling, boils, wounds, red...

* Retain a clean and dry. Wash your feet daily with warm water. If your feet can not feel temperature, test temperature of water by absorbent towel to touch other body areas, such as wrist, elbow or used for testing. Dry your feet gently Rub the skin can cause scratches. Dry the feet of the interstitial fluid and apply to damp skin if dry skin.

Cut nails carefully. Cut nails straight lines and careful sanding edges. Do not cut corners feet deep.

* Based calluses. Use a pumice or nail files for filing calluses or maybe surgery to remove, but patients do not voluntarily cut calluses.

* Wear clean socks and dry. Cotton socks should even go in the house.

* Wear shoes both legs. Always wear shoes to protect feet just to avoid foot injuries. Should buy shoes in the afternoon because then your feet will be larger than the morning

Lifestyle changes

* Control blood pressure. Diabetic patients are at risk of hypertension than 2 times higher than people without diabetes. If both hypertension and diabetes, patients with increased risk of complications in blood vessels and reduced blood flow information. Control blood pressure

* Choose foods that have health benefits. Select balanced diet, especially greens, fruits, whole grain wheat. Keeping an ideal body weight.

* Physical activity daily. Daily activities to help protect the heart and improves blood flow, and which help stabilize blood sugar and blood pressure.

* Stop smoking. Diabetic patients smoking increases the risk of stroke and myocardial infarction than 2 times compared with diabetic patients not smoking. Periodic leg at the same time is also affected.

While there is no vitamin that will reverse the development of existing varicose veins, there are several vitamins that can help reduce inflammation and may even aid in the prevention of future varicose veins. Note that it's important to consult a doctor prior to any supplement implementation. Most often the best nutritional advice is to eat more fiber, which will result in less strain and maintain a healthy weight, both of which help to reduce pressure within veins.

Vitamin A
Vitamin A plays a role in several functions throughout the body including vision, immune function, embryonic development and reproduction, bone metabolism, and most important in regards to varicose veins, skin health and antioxidant activity.

Found in orange and dark green fruits/vegetables like carrots, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, winter squashes, cantaloupe, pink grapefruit, apricots, broccoli, spinach, and most dark green, leafy vegetables Vitamin A is actually best absorbed from animal sources like beef, calf, and chicken liver; fish liver oils; whole milk dairy products such as yogurt and cottage cheese; eggs.

A vitamin A intake of 25,000 IU is recommended for skin integrity and in the case of existing varicose veins, can promote the healing of ulcers.

Vitamin C & Flavonoids
Vitamin C and flavonoids has been found to aid circulation, promote healing of sores, and assist in the strengthening of fragile vein walls.

Particularly high levels of vitamin C can be found in broccoli, bell peppers, kale, cauliflower, strawberries, lemons, mustard and turnip greens, brussel sprouts, papaya, chard, cabbage, spinach, kiwifruit, snow peas, cantaloupe, oranges, grapefruit, limes, tomatoes, zucchini, raspberries, asparagus, celery, pineapples, lettuce, watermelon, fennel, peppermint and parsley.

The recommended daily intake is 1,000 mg vitamin C and 500 mg flavonoids 3 times a day. Reduce vitamin C dose if diarrhea develops.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E promotes improved circulation, connective tissue growth and is believed to help relieve calf pain due to narrowing of the arteries (though studies are inconclusive).

Excellent sources of vitamin E can be found in asparagus, avocado, eggs, milk, nuts (such as almonds or hazelnuts), seeds, spinach and other green leafy vegetables, unheated vegetable oils, wheat germ, wholegrain foods such as fortified cereals.

Check with your doctor if taking anticoagulant medications. Dosage recommendations take 300 to 800 IU.

B Vitamins

Vitamin B-complex can help maintain strong blood vessels and has been found to support and increase the rate of metabolism, help maintain healthy skin and muscle tone, enhance immune and nervous system function, and promote cell growth and division-including that of the red blood cells that help prevent anemia.

B vitamins are found in all whole, unprocessed foods such as brown rice, wheat and barley. B vitamins are particularly concentrated in meat and meat products such as liver, turkey, and tuna. Other excellent B vitamin sources include: potatoes, bananas, lentils, chile peppers, tempeh, beans, nutritional yeast, brewer's yeast, and molasses.

Staphylococcus aureus bacteria normally live in the nose, mouth, rectum or genital area without causing infection. When a wound or injury introduces the organism into some other part of the body, however, these bacteria can secrete substances that tunnel into tissues, destroying and dissolving matter along the way. The bacteria can produce pus containing abscesses anywhere on or in the body.

If you have an illness such as chronic liver or kidney disease, diabetes, or cancer, you are particularly susceptible to severe staphylococcal infection.

Several fairly common skin infections can be caused by Staphylococcus bacteria. One example is folliculitis in which small, white headed pimples erupt around hair follicles anywhere on the body. Friction, blockage of the follicle or injury (from shaving for example) can cause a rash-like eruption.

Any skin wound whether they are caused by an injury or made during surgery, can be complicated by staphylococcal infections. The symptoms are the formation of pus, pain, redness and heat.

Staphylococcus bacteria can infect any part of your body. Bones and joints develop staphylococcal abscesses from blood infections. As the organism circulates in the bloodstream it tends to lodge in the long bones of the arms and legs, or in the vertebrae.

In the lungs, staphylococcal pneumonia can develop. This type of pneumonia may occur if the bacteria circulate in the bloodstream or if an abscess lodges on one of the valves on the right side of the heart.

Staphylococcal food poisoning can occur if you eat contaminated food that contains toxins produced by the bacteria.

Staphylococcus can also cause a colon infection if you take an antibiotic drug that kills many kinds of bacteria, including those that normally live in the digestive tract. This may upset the balance of organisms in the intestines, so that Staphylococci over multiply and cause abdominal pain, a swollen abdomen and bloody diarrhea.

It is also possible to develop a kidney infection or abscesses in the kidney tissue or along the outside of the kidney, if Staphylococcus bacteria are circulating in your bloodstream.

If Staphylococcus infects the inner lining of the heart, Infective endocarditis will develop. This disorder can cause irreversible heart damage, and may even be fatal in some cases.

In mild cases of staphylococcal infection such as folliculitis or boils, cleaning the infected area with soap and eliminating the cause of the infection will often clear up the problem. If the infection persists or if you have severe symptoms, you should see your physician. The physician will probably prescribe an antibiotic to combat the infection.

In extreme cases, you may have to be hospitalized so that antibiotics can be given by intravenous drip. Sometimes abscesses must be surgically drained to clean out pockets of pus before the infection will heal completely.

Peaches are undoubtedly one of the most sumptuous fruits in the whole entire word. They ooze flavor and have a soft, and delicate texture that can send your taste buds wild. One amazing thing that derives from this delicious fruit is peach juice. This is one of the most popular fruit juices around, behind the obvious candidates such as apple, orange and cranberry juices. Like the fruit itself, peach juice has a wealth of nutritional benefits, that make it well worth considering when it comes to making healthy dietary choices. However, one thing small drawback that can often cause a slight amount of bother is that peach juice can cause diarrhea.

Why do fruit juices cause diarrhea?

Peach juice is not alone in causing what is a notoriously frustrating condition, in fact many fruit juices if drank in larger quantities can change the dynamics of your stools. The reason for this is due to something that fruit juices contain, the culprit's name being sorbitol.

So what is sorbitol?

Sorbitol is a sugar that the body cannot digest. If you are drinking a lot of peach juice, or even other fruit juices such as apple and prune juice, your body will react by trying to dilute the sugar. This is endeavored by using water from the bloodstream and sending it to the intestine. This extra water is therefore responsible for changing the constitution of the stools, making them looser.

This is the same for people of all ages, however with babies the problem may be more troublesome as their bodies are so small. May this be a warning to anyone who feeds their infants a lot of fruit juice, the consequences could be messy!

Peach juice nutritional benefits

It you are an adult who likes to drink peach juice, don't let this put you off, as this is really only likely to occur if you drink excessive amounts. I am not trying to put you off drinking fruit juices, quite to the contrary as they are loaded with the nutrients that your body needs. They are a much better alternative to other soft drinks such as fizzy pop.

Just to be clear here I will highlight some of the peach juice benefits that are well worth taking note of.

* Peach juice is loaded with vitamin C, in fact from a regular 500 g serving of peach juice you can get over a fifth of the total vitamin C needed in an entire day.

* You get a very healthy amount of dietary fiber from peach juice, from a 500 g serving you can obtain around 14% of the total fiber your diet requires in a day.

* You can get just over 10% of the total vitamin A needed in a day with a 500 g cup of peach juice.

One drawback - Calories

Calories are one thing that we all look out for in our diet, and due to the sugar that is found in peach juice, it is something that is not exactly low in them. There are approximately 330 calories in a 500 g serving of peach juice. This is quite a lot considering if you were to go for the fruit on it's own, you would be eating considerably less. In a medium sized peach weighing around 100 g there are just 38 calories.

In comparison to other fruits, and more so to the majority of foods we all include in our diets, the calories found in peaches are hardly anything to worry even the most avid calorie counter.

There is always an alternative of course, and that could be to dilute the juice with water. Of course it is not going to reduce the calories in the peach juice, but making a 500 g serving one part water and one part peach is going to halve the calories in that serving.

More information

So there you have it, drinking a lot of fruit juices can cause an upset stomach and diarrhea due to the sorbitol that they contain. One thing to bear in mind is that it is actually from the fruit itself, not some sort of added ingredient when making a fruit juice. However, due to the concentrate of the fruit that goes into making the juice, it is more likely to cause you problems than just by eating a portion of the fruit itself.

Eating the fruit itself is not only going to reduce the chances of an upset stomach, but is also going to ensure you take on less calories. So perhaps a peach and a glass of water could be less problematic than a nice refreshing glass of peach juice. The decision is yours and down to how your body reacts to the juice, and also how concerned you are as to peach calories, or those found in the juice.

As molds are omnipresent, it's indeed difficult to avoid exposure to molds. Molds, mildews, fungus and injurious microscopic organisms are everywhere. Like all other members of ecosystem, molds and mildews are vital for maintaining environmental balance. By decomposing organic matters into simple hydrocarbons they continue the carbon and energy circulation through out the food chain. Earth without molds, fungi and other such organisms would become hard to live.

Mold bodies do not contain chlorophyll. They depend on dead organic matters for food. While collecting nutrition they decompose complex organic matters into simple form of hydrocarbons. Thus they perform their own quota of responsibility for the ecosystem.

But, when these molds contaminate indoor environment they become troublesome. Being primitive organism, molds and mildews reproduce by releasing spores. High density of mold spores in air leads to health problems. Apart from this, some toxic black molds produce mycotoxins which are injurious for human health. Molds, mold spores and mycotoxins create severe health issues.

Allergic Reactions:

Molds, spores, hyphal and mycelial sections are allergens, i.e., human body shows allergic responses to these components. Like any other antigen, when mold spores, hyphal or, mycelial parts enter into our system; the body releases antibodies to protect the infection.

Not all people react to molds and mold spores. Also, the amount of mold fragment that causes allergy is not fixed for all. Some people are hypersensitive to foreign particles. Even some subjects are allergic to pollens too. Oversensitive people should always try to avoid exposure to molds. Symptoms of mold allergy are watery eyes, puffing around eyes, irritation of throat, runny noses, extreme coughing and sneezing, asthma and more.

Some molds may lead to skin rashes and dermal infections. Dry skin, feet, nails are prone to such molds.

Opportunistic Infections:

People with healthy immune system are not vulnerable to such infections. However, those with compromised immune system suffer a lot as they have lesser ability to fight against infections. Hence, immunocompromised people need better protection against black mold and mildews.

Diseases like AIDS, cancer fall under this category. HIV does a lot of harm to immune system. Chemotherapy, immunosuppressive drugs also lead to impaired immune system. People undergoing similar treatment need special care and should avoid mold infection at any cost.

Toxic Effects:

Molds and mildews produce both volatile and non-volatile compounds which cause the environment toxic. The musty odor observed at the place of mold contamination is due to these compounds. Such compounds produced by foodborne molds cause the unpleasant taste and smell in contaminated foods.

Mycotoxins, non-volatile compound, are produced by molds during their metabolism. Mycotoxins spread through out the mold colony including the substrate on which it has grown. Spores released from toxic mold colonies, fragments of toxic black mold when aerosolized, chances of toxic infection become higher.

Among various reactions of mycotoxins, flu like symptoms, throat irritation, headache, diarrhea, fatigue, cough, dermatitis and skin rash, malfunctioning of immune system are few to name.

Preventive measures:

Black mold and mildews cannot grow without moisture. Keeping building environment dry prevents indoor mold growth. However, if they grow anyway, remove molds with natural cleaning products.

All people are not allergic to molds. Those who are hypersensitive should carefully avoid exposure to molds. Keeping home, office and other indoor environments clean and dry helps to prevent mold growth.
